We are free only because of the men and women who have sacrificed their lives to protect our constitution. It is sad that so many Americans and too many children don’t realize the connection between the greatness of this country and the sacrifice of all of the patriots of our past.
When you are thinking about the start of a long weekend and the start of the summer season, remember the lives that were cut short and the families that loved them with a short prayer of thanks or a moment of silence. It is the least we can do.
Think about our troops in Iraq, and Afghanistan, the families that love them wondering whether or not they will see them again. Think about the families that are looking through photo albums, reading loved ones letters from the past, that have allowed us to turn this holiday into something different than what it truly is. What this holiday truly is – is the opportunity to remember the people that have made this country the most respected and freedom loving place on earth.
To them I pray, to the families I say; thank you and your loved one is not forgotten. Please know you are in our hearts and prayers on this special day we call Memorial Day. We honor and remember the heroes we have buried and the families that mourn.
God Bless You…
