And we are about to get our first glimpse into our choices for president. Iowa will vote soon and all eyes will be on her. Peggy Noonan has a good analysis here of the implications of Iowa’s choices. I will not make any predictions but I do have some hopes.
On the democratic side I would like to see Hillary lose; period. On the republican side I would be fine with Mitt, John McCain, and Rudy winning in Iowa. I do not like Huckabee.
It is the start of a roller coaster year and it will take many turns. It will be very telling to see where the American people want our country to go. I hope it is in the right direction…

Rich, I couldn't agree more. I'm hopeful that Huckabee is losing his appeal. I read Peggy Noonan's analysis and she seems to have the candidates pegged right. I don't like to wish my life away but I wish we were closing in on Nov. 2008 rather than the primaries. The coverage is never ending. APH
Very interesting article. I would like to know what demerits she has against Huckabee to throw him into the "not reasonable" category. I am not necessarily a Huckabee fan myself, I don't think he would win in a general election, and I have my negative suspicions about him, but still would like to hear hers. She is right on with her analysis of Hilary. I am telling you that the mass amounts of ads I saw while in IL (for the Iowa caucus) made me crazy -- we have so much to look forward to!?!?!?
Sheri: I think it is a gut feeling with Huckabee along with his spending habits that disturb me most. He is very Clintonesque in his approach and a bit to smooth. I say much to look forward to because we must protect the future of this country by fighting against all this "socialism" being introduced by the candidates. Especially the democrats. I would add Huckabee in that category. Socialism will destroy this country if we don't stop it here with a fiscal conservative. Right now only Mitt and Thompson are even hinting at sensible reforms. There will be a lot of indigestion in 2008. Is that a better analysis?
Yes, good analysis. I watched Huckabee on Meet the Press last night. His discussion of the immigration issue was suspect and I found myself not impressed with that, nor his explanation of his spending in AR. He finished strong with his discussion of the abortion issue, of course. I would like someone to explain to me why Tim Russert challenges anti-abortion candidates on their position, citing the "fact" that millions of people disagree that life begins at conception, HOWEVER, Russert never challenges pro-abortion candidates similarly -- millions of people disagree with their assumption of the fact that life does NOT begin at conception. It burns me up!
