We are free only because of the men and women who have sacrificed their lives to protect our constitution. It is sad that so many Americans and too many children don’t realize the connection between the greatness of this country and the sacrifice of all of the patriots of our past.
When you are thinking about the start of a long weekend and the start of the summer season, remember the lives that were cut short and the families that loved them with a short prayer of thanks or a moment of silence. It is the least we can do.
Think about our troops in Iraq, and Afghanistan, the families that love them wondering whether or not they will see them again. Think about the families that are looking through photo albums, reading loved ones letters from the past, that have allowed us to turn this holiday into something different than what it truly is. What this holiday truly is – is the opportunity to remember the people that have made this country the most respected and freedom loving place on earth.
To them I pray, to the families I say; thank you and your loved one is not forgotten. Please know you are in our hearts and prayers on this special day we call Memorial Day. We honor and remember the heroes we have buried and the families that mourn.

The Definition of America…
We are “not defined by our borders” according to the president of the United States, and we should stand together, face the future together, work together, with Mexico. What does this mean exactly?
If we are not defined by our borders, what defines our country and its resources? What is a border? One definition is “The line or frontier area separating political divisions or geographic regions; a boundary.” Are there no longer any boundaries, geographic areas, or political differences between the United States and Mexico? It may seem so by the way our federal government treats border security, but our constitution is clear in our “boundaries”.
We are Americans because we live within a particular geographic region, share a common law called the constitution, and believe that private property is a foundation of a free society. This president apparently believes in none of it. Words have meaning, and when a president chooses his words he does so with a calculated strategy toward his vision for the future.

We all have a purpose and destiny…
I believe that God has a plan for each and every one of us. If you’re like me, we tend to think about our destiny and purpose when we engage in things outside our comfort zone. When we take on new challenges or take advantage of new opportunities it is normal to reflect on the purpose of our actions.
I have been thinking a lot about my purpose and destiny recently, mostly because of my choice to attempt to gain access to the ballot as a candidate for governor of Colorado. It is more than likely I will not gain access, because getting 1000 signatures in politics is not an easy task. But we continue to try. I am an executive at a start-up, and my supporters have full time jobs. We are simply determined to try to make a difference in a system we believe is broken. So as I contemplate the reason for my actions I am reflecting on the purpose of my action, and the impact on my destiny.
Has this been a waste of time if I don’t get the 1000 signatures? I know it is not because of the many great people I have met because of my efforts. I also know my kids have been watching closely and have become more knowledgeable about the state of our government, and why values and the constitution are so important. My son is running for class representative at school and maybe that is what comes from this effort; a son that becomes president? Only God knows at this point. My daughter Emily has shown interest in my efforts and I hope someday my efforts are an example for her to follow.
There are a number of people working to get signatures, and I am so blessed to have them. But my biggest concern is their disappointment if we don’t reach our goal. I will be OK because whatever happens is my destiny, I just hope they don’t consider this a failure, because getting involved and trying to make a difference is never a failure, it is a learning experience that has a lot of lessons to offer.
I have done many things in my life, and I will continue to follow the pursuits in life I believe to be my purpose, but what will the result be? Only God knows for now and that is OK with me.
I have faith that everything I choose to do is what I am supposed to do, and will make me a better person. If I am simply a role model for my kids, it is worth every moment. I am proud of everything I do, even though sometimes it is embarrassing to be out there all alone trying to make a difference.

A New World Order Can Never Work…
The evidence that we should get out of the business of world agencies, currency, and debacles like the European Union are obvious to everyone, except the bureaucrats and elitists. Our founders had the formula for success, and it was no central world government, it was the individual.
It is so much easier to manage our own affairs than expect a global bureaucracy to determine when and with how much money we can retire. It is easy for individuals to provide for their own education, housing, healthcare, and all of life’s needs and luxuries, so why this seemingly passionate drive to global central “authorities”?
The United States is governed by the constitution which puts the power to govern with the individual, where we as individuals elect representatives temporarily to do so on our behalf. We have fifty individual republics that have constitutional authority to handle their own affairs.
When we decide we want change we change the elected representatives, we do so based on our interests. No one at the federal level is authorized to enter into any agreement that will take any power away from us at the state level. We can never succumb to a global body without violating the law of our land. Who will we hold accountable in a global body, and how?
What we must do at the state level is to reduce our funding to the federal government based on constitutionally authorized powers, and end the seemingly endless taking of our individual labor for unconstitutional purposes.
It is time to end the government’s drive to connect us with these unaccountable corrupt global bodies and re-focus on our country and re-affirming our constitutional principles. Companies and economic free markets should continue to do what makes economic sense for them but not with any guarantees from any government.
It is time to focus again on America. It is time to focus again on the individual. It is time again to throw out these elitists that believe global leadership is the answer. We have seen global leaderships impact on the individual, and it is destructive. We are currently seeing what you get when you allow elitist globalists to run things; chaos…

We’re Talking; They’re Doing; So Who is Winning?
I listen to outraged radio and television talk show hosts, clearly arguing against what is happening with the out of control federal government, sometimes getting heated to the point of obvious frustration, meanwhile Obama and the enemy within are passing legislation and borrowing more money than we can ever pay back. The left and their leader Obama are willingly bringing on an economic crisis of enormous proportion, trying to destroy capitalism, free markets, freedom, and our American Dream, and we are waiting until November to counter?
You need to read “Samuel Adams, A-Life” by Ira Stoll, to understand how this type of battle would have been handled by one of our most underappreciated founders. Sam Adams was the ultimate agitator for liberty, and if he was here today would have riled up the masses to frenzy, and stormed the house and sent every one of our representative’s home by any means necessary to do so. Our founders understood the cost of freedom:

We can see what is happening and know where we are heading so why do we think we can wait? Last night Greta Van Susteren was arguing we had to bail out Greece. Why? She suggested the domino effect because we are all linked globally especially through the economy. Greece is the size of the City of Los Angeles. If you can justify a bailout for Greece where does it end? When do we cut the cord?
Our constitution protects Americans and only Americans. This is truly the end if we have to bail out every lazy, corrupt, two bit dictator, kingdom, or democracy around the world.
When will we be willing to protect our posterity? We can talk about it, but the enemies of the American Dream are doing something about it…

Heading for a Cliff…
Catastrophe is dead ahead, and it is clear to see - so why are we not stepping on the brakes? I think the November election will be a small “pump” of the brake but will that be enough? Our kid’s future is being spent on bailing out unionized, entitled Greek workers, who need to cut their own benefits, fix their own self made problems, and leave our kids money alone!
The federal government has a plan to end obesity, but the problem is it ends our kid’s freedom. These people are evil dictators disguised as do-gooders. We need to read the constitution and apply it; now!
Government healthcare will ruin healthcare. Unions are destroying the jobs they supposedly treasure. The government programs are destroying charitable giving. The education system is destroying education, respect for the flag and faith in God.
Unemployment “benefits” are destroying incentive to work. Illegal people in this country are taking jobs, undermining wages, bankrupting our community services, and filling our prisons. But we can’t afford a fence.
The free market is under attack and companies that make bad business decisions are being rewarded with political favor, and our hard earned income, and kid’s futures are being siphoned to takeover these failures. Utilities are raising rates to pay for the people that can’t pay but they somehow can afford other luxuries in life.
A minority leftist group has been staging this coup d’état for many years, and they are now implementing an agenda that hates, despises, and wants to destroy the constitution and America. They are in the driver’s seat speeding toward the cliff. We need a new driver. We need to start standing up for our principles.
We need to be proud that we pray, work hard and make money to support OUR families. We need to be proud that we volunteer and give to the charities WE believe deserve our support. We need to be proud of home schooling and private education, and promote education that supports OUR Kid’s future. We need to fly the flag, wear the flag, and sing our national anthem with a new vigor. We need to be proud Americans again believing in OUR INDIVIDUAL greatness that allows us to share our individual wealth to help others. We need to end poverty in Detroit and other communities of color by getting the people currently locked into generational government programs off of government programs and focused on the true American Dream. We need to drive back to our founding principles and constitution that has given us the greatness WE have created and stop telling lies that government has given us anything of worth. The last thing this government has given us of worth was the constitution.

Divided We Fall…
The two parties are at it again. The Republican Governors Association is running an ad against Mayor Hickenlooper, the democratic candidate for governor, trying to link him with the unpopular Bill Ritter, but do we really need this? What is the purpose of the ad? What will be the result of the ad in the end?
The purpose of the ad is simple, to paint candidate Hickenlooper in such a negative light that people will vote against him, therefore helping the republican candidate to win the election. But the democrats are going to respond, most likely creating an ad that will attempt to demonize the republican candidate. And so it will go, on and on, ad after ad, the good people of Colorado will be inundated with negative ad after negative ad, and they will be left to wonder; which candidate is the lesser of two evils.
That is our two party system in a nutshell. Demonize the other party’s candidate to the point that your candidate looks less evil than the other party’s candidate. All in the name of “winning”. I ask; what do we win in the end? No matter which candidate wins in the end, the people in both parties are left with the perceptions from the campaign pounding each has received. So we end up with a dysfunctional ability to govern. Democrats won’t listen or be open to anything a republican winner has to say, and the Republicans will not listen to or be open to anything a democratic winner has to say.
People are so disillusioned with the political process, and yet we are told that negative ads are an effective campaign strategy. These ads may be effective for the party that wins, but not for the people, and the ability to govern. Negative ads are an excuse and an easy way to campaign. The most effective way to win a campaign is to convince people through argument and debate that your positions are right for the direction of the state. Topic by topic, vetted in a forum, not bound by commercial time restraints, but real open and elongated debate. Where people have the opportunity to hear every issue discussed ad-nauseam to the point of conclusion. So why don’t politicians do that?
Simple; the people are not willing to sit and listen to it, and the media does everything in bits and bytes. We the people are partly responsible because we don’t do our homework and are not willing to invest in vetting candidates or protecting our freedom. The media is responsible because they play into the two party horse race, and never give anyone else a chance to be heard. They limit the debate instead of nurturing it.
So how does it change? I don’t know but the first step is for people to do more homework. My campaign is an example. I receive dozens of notes encouraging me and saying they respect and admire what I’m doing. But when it comes down to brass tax, people are not willing to take the effort to support alternative campaigns. We are lazy as an electorate and have been duped into believing what the two parties dish out. There are many alternatives to the two parties but the effort to make the change seems too much for most.
The two parties have been losing members for years and there are more people that find themselves unaffiliated than ever before. That’s a good thing, but leaving the party system is not enough. If you want to end the negative ads that divide us as a people, you need to punish the people that are doing it and support alternatives. Maybe I’m not the right candidate but there will be no change to this divisiveness unless we all get involved to change it...
